High Fidelity

SOME OF THE BEST ONES

High Fidelity is one of my favourite ever books. I identify so much with the book’s protagonist, Rob. We not only share the history of shit relationships that continue to impact on our lives, but also the love of lists.

I love lists. Not just shopping lists or to-do lists, but lists of everything.

I like to write lists of the top five movies or books or songs (or anything really) that have changed my life. I like to write lists of my favourite authors. My favourite jokes. My favourite pick up lines. My favourite words starting with G. My favourite things to write lists about.

I don’t know why this is. Maybe it is just comforting, to be able to see everything that makes up my personality written down on a piece of paper.

And from now on, I am going to start writing my lists down here.

A list of novels that mean a lot to me:

  1. Matilda (Roald Dahl)
  2. The Secret Garden (Frances Hodgson Burnett)
  3. A Little Princess (Frances Hodgson Burnett)
  4. Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll)
  5. High Fidelity (Nick Hornby)

I now have the two in one copy with Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, but have't had a chance to read it yet. Am currently halfway through Sherlock Holmes, and have a bookshelf of Shakespeare to get through as well.
