Little Miss Rot Apfel goes to The Markets!!

IN WHICH I EXPERIENCE MY FIRST EVER MARKETS

It was dark, and I was wide awake. The clock read 5:00. I knew I had to get up and get ready soon, but I wanted my stomach to settle down first. It was filled with vomiting butterflies.

I was awake and ready before I knew it. Time seemed to pass like it does in movies; I could have sworn that there was a montage of me brushing my teeth, getting dressed, forcing down some food...

The car had been packed the night before. I was sitting in the passenger seat, container of stock on my lap. Mum turned the key in the ignition. *clickclickclickclick* *clickclickclickityclickclickclick* *clickclickclickityclick*

Not good.

Flat battery.

Very not good.

Okay, try not to panic. Try not to panic. I'm not panicking. What are you talking about? Months of work down the drain? Meh. Not panicking. Why do you seem to think I am panicking? You are quite obviously the one panicking. Etc.

Take 2: Re-load the things into Grandad's van. Thank the flying rainbow unicorn gods for Grandad and his van.

We were on our way, finally, but were running an hour late. Which meant a rush to get everything set up in time, and a very flustered me when a woman bought a vintage handbag and I hadn't gotten the change purse off Mum yet.

I finally finished setting up, and Liv arrived. Yay, help!

The rest of the hours were a blur. So many people came up to the stall to have a look, and comment on how great everything was. After all, though, it wasn't really my market. In the past years, there have been more crafty people there, but this year, I was one of the only ones. People were only really there for a bargain (and I have to admit, I myself loved my FREE gigantic My Little Pony plush, and wooden puzzles to make brooches from).

But I don't do this for the money. (Even though, for the record, I did actually make money, it is just it was a slow day and not my target market). I make things because I love it. I love the feeling I get when I finish a project and what once was a pile of junk is now something really cool that I want 10 of. I love the feeling I get when people compliment my handmade things. It makes everything worthwhile. I love what I do, and I would never change it for the world.

Next stop, bigger and better things!!! (:
